With a far-flung network of branches across the expanse of Alaska, Credit Union 1 in Anchorage, was capturing deposits remotely before remote deposit capture was cool.
Two-and-a-half years ago, the $924 million asset credit union upped the technological ante by launching a comprehensive ATM replacement project featuring Diebold image-enabled terminals paired with Bluepoint Solutions’ check capture capabilities.
The system integrates remote deposit capture points from Ketchikan to Nome—a span of more than 1,300 miles—supported by a single back-office cash letter system.
Credit Union 1’s more than 80,000 members have capitalized on their increased access to key financial services, increasing deposits by 68% between July 2013 and December 2014. In the past 12 months, the credit union has received more than 3,800 deposits totaling $1.4 million through its ATMs.
Branch traffic has declined slightly, but interactions through the call center, mobile and online banking, and ATMs have increased. As a sign of its commitment to all channels, Credit Union 1 unveiled a new mobile app and an enhanced, customizable online portal that includes budgeting tools, financial resources, and an attractive user interface.
